KidsCan Charity was a concept that was born in the early 2000's, providing a way to help kids with economic barriers join recreational activities that they loved. The first phase of KidsCan was nowhere near what it is today, and did not have the vision and backing it has now. It was focused on Sports only and did not have Charity status.
It was many years of hibernation for the name KidsCan, until one day the prospect of building something meaningful came full circle. For John and his family, the idea of encouraging kids with financial and Social barriers to find their passions in educational activities was a way to give back to the community. In 2015, discussions got serious and the idea to form a charity became paramount to the name. June 30th 2016 KidsCan became incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit corporations act and became a registered charitable organization under the Income Tax Act (Canada) effective September 29, 2017. We are now poised and excited to take on life-changing work that will empower kids to knock down barriers and find themselves through skill-building activities.
Thank you for all your encouraging support. We are passionate and committed to helping Kids follow their dreams. Together we can make a difference!
