Karen Lilly Executive Director & Co- Founder

Managing Director, Purpose to Impact

Karen Lilly has over 15 years experience in Human Resources, Talent Management, Training and Coaching. Areas of expertise include Fundraising, Learning and Development, Facilitation, Training,  Talent management, Leadership Planning,  Career and Leadership Coaching, People Strategy and Diversity & Inclusion. Karen is the proud mom of two boys and passionate about community engagement. Karen also volunteers for Junior Achievers, is the local school PTA Vice Chair and a mentor for Durham Women’s network and U of T Alumni network

Ige Egal, Vice-Chair

Policy Advisor, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development

Ige is passionate about community development. He believes in the power of sport to provide transformational opportunities for both individuals and communities. As a proponent of equitable access to formative extra-curricular opportunities, Ige has worked across various sports, activities,  and communities. Ige was the founding executive director at the Toronto Inner-City Rugby Foundation (TIRF), Canada’s leading grassroots rugby-for-development organization. In his role, he built partnerships across public, private, and non-profit sectors using rugby to provide learning and personal development opportunities as well as develop caring and compassionate citizens in Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods.  Ige works at the Paris based Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as a policy adviser. He also serves as a board director for MLSE LaunchPad, a place where youth facing barriers use sport to recognize and realize their potential.

John Snell

Owner, NMTeaB Consultancy and Ela’s Teas 

John has spent the last 37 years in the tea business, working in a variety of impoverished countries on the planet. In the last year John has founded his own company NMteaB Consultancy in this capacity he has been able to carry forward his passion for empowering others through various projects with the UN's FAO amongst others. John has sat on the Board of the Ethical Tea Partnership and has developed sustainable development programming for various entities. Having personally experienced the dramatic positive impact that access to opportunity and dignity has, with respect to building confidence and responsibility in the young, John is a firm advocate that KidsCan Charity can play a vital role building these attributes in our children and communities. John is a Father of three and a Grandpa to 4. In his personal time John is an avid soccer player, a builder of furniture and decks and believes strongly in a sense of humour as a cure to all…

Sarah Badun, Chair

Consultant, Bain and Company

Sarah holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing Management from the University of Guelph. Sarah works in management consulting and private equity, with previous experience in financial services including investment planning, strategic communications, and human resources. She’s passionate about giving back to the community and has volunteered with over a dozen organizations. Her most significant contribution was with Peacebuilders Internationals, an organization that runs restorative justice programs for youth in at-risk neighbourhoods, where she was responsible for the production and coordination of their annual fundraiser for three years. In her down time, she stays active either running or spinning to balance out her love for good food. Sarah loves spending time with family and friends, as well as travelling and exploring the world.

Harpal Hothi, Treasurer

Tax Manager, KPMG

Harpal has spent several years working in asset management and is a certified Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). He is originally from Edmonton, where he completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta. Prior to relocating to Toronto, he spent many years as a tutor and youth mentor. Harpal and his wife now proudly support and volunteer with Second Harvest, a food-rescue organization. In his free time, he enjoys golf, travel, and reading.

Andrea Hucal, Secretary

Director, Business Operations & Strategic Integration, BMO Canadian Personal Banking Products

In Andrea’s current role she is responsible for business strategy, operations and integration of retail banking products, driving efficiency and effectiveness across a diverse team. Over her 9 years at BMO she has held a variety of roles across the enterprise, with a focus on strategy, operations, relationship management and marketing. Prior to the bank, Andrea worked in marketing, branding and live event production. She currently serves on the Dalhousie Corporate Residency MBA Advisory council and KidsCan Charity. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Vancouver.

Daniela Pacheco

Partner and Senior Lawyer in the Medical Malpractice Group, Neinstein  LLP

Daniela has experience in all areas of plaintiff side medical malpractice and traumatic injury litigation. She has appeared as counsel in complex multi-party medical malpractice trials and appeals, and has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal for Ontario as an advocate for her clients. Daniela is proudly serving as chair of the Medical Malpractice Section of Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) and is a regular contributor for their Medical Malpractice Newsletter. Additionally, she has recently accepted a position as Public Relations Liaison within the Executive at the Women Lawyer's Forum of the Ontario Bar Association. She also served as Chair of the Women's Caucus of OTLA for two consecutive years and was awarded an OTLA Women's Caucus Award in 2017.
